Seakeeping Basin

Intended for testing mono- and multihull ship models of 2.5~4m in length and weighing 50~300kg at any heading, including tests under the effects of the wind in regular and irregular seas, as well as for determining wave-induced bending moments and shearing forces with the help of segmented ship models.

Tank dimensions - 161 x 20m The deep-water part is 89m long and 4m deep, its towing carriage speed is 3.5 m/s (if using the whole tank length: 5.5m/s). The shallow-water part is 72m long and 0.2~1.5m deep, its towing carriage speed is 2.5m/s. Waves: lengths 1.5~8m, heights up to 0.3m. Equipment: Two towing carriages, wind-simulation fans, wavemakers for regular and irregular seas at arbitrary angles to the tank axis, instrumentation for resistance, motion parameters and wave-induced hull bending moment measurements.
